# How to create a snapshot of an Instance?
A **snapshot** is an image that preserves the disk state of a running instance. To configure a backup of the VM, follow the steps given below:
**Step 1:** [Login](https://customer.acecloud.ai/app/login) to your account.
**Step 2:** Navigate to **Compute** and then click on **Instances**.
**Step 3:** Select the **Instance** from the list, click the **drop-down**, and then choose **Create Snapshot.**
**Step 4**: Enter the **Snapshot Name** and hit **Submit**.
